My respondents ages are mainly 10-20 years old, however I

did get responses from 2 people over 50. It will therefore be

interesting to see the difference between the young and old
in their answers.
The majority of my respondents were male, as
double the amount of males responded to my
survey. However as 3 females responded to my
survey I will be able to compare and contrast the
answers between the genders.
I had a range of responses for this question, this is
interesting as it is clear that it doesnt matter what age
or gender the respondent may be, a variety of people
watch soaps more and less often than others. This is
shown by the 2 respondents who answered never have
different ages and genders.

For this answer it is clear to see that Corrination
Street was the most popular response, this may
be due to a number of things; the local location
of the soap in relation to Manchester where I
expect most of my respondents to come from.
Or, because of the various age, ethnicities, and
genders represented in the soap opera. However,
its clear to see people are interested in other
soap operas, with 5 other responses answering a
range of soaps.
In this question, responses covered a vast range
of soap opera storylines. A recurring pattern was
the interest in death/ murder plots and humour.
This indicates that audiences want to see an
action packed and intense narrative structure.
However, this may be because the majority of
my responses were from males.
The character Phil Mitchell seems to be a very
popular and recurring trend in this question. This
will be because again, my responses were
predominantly from males and he is a very strong
and masculine character.

Within the answers to this question there were a
range of responses, the recurring pattern of age and
young people/ teenagers is noticeable however.
Within the media generally youths are negatively
stereotyped, and obviously people also believe this
within soap operas too. However another answer I
believe was suitable was religion as often in soaps
we do not see a wide range of ethnicities
represented fairly, such as in Corrination Street a
Muslim family owns a corner shop, very
stereotypical.
Another recurring pattern similarly to question 5 is
the desire to see more violence/ fights in soap
operas. This again is likely to be due to my
responses being by mainly males. However I do
think soap operas do not generally have scenes of
a violent nature so I understand where my
respondents are coming from.
From this answer I got a wide range of responses,
this shows people of all ages tend to watch a
variety of shows. My respondents were mainly
male which may be a factor to why sports was the
most popular genre chosen.
This was the opportunity to see my respondents
favourite TV show, all the shows are different which
shows again that although my respondents were
mainly male and between 10-20 still a variety of
television programmes are watched by different
people.
