Name of Assessment: Key Signature


Formal Formative/Formal Summative


Formal Formative:
1. Learning Target- TWL be able to identify all key signatures on both treble and bass clef staves.
2. This assessment is used to see how students are coming along in learning key signatures. They
can take the test as many times as they need to until they reach proficiency. Each time the test
is taken, the student is to send the teacher a verification code.
3. The online exercise keeps track of how many questions are answered correctly, but the teacher
uses the rubric to mark whether the assessment was completed satisfactorily.
4. The data is how many correct questions answered out of how many attempted in a specific
amount of time.
5. The teacher will use the data to see the progress of each student. When students are not
progressing the teacher may review the material in class if needed.
a. Proficiency is determined if 30 correct answers are completed in 5 minutes.
b. It will be a part of the test grade only when one of these two things happen:
i. The student completes the proficiency
ii. The last day of the semester has passed.
6. The students will be able to see how well they have done each time they take the test. They will
try to improve their score each time they take the test to compete against themselves.
7. Sample document attached.
8. Those who do not get it the first time can keep trying or the teacher can go over the material
with the student again if need be. Those who understand the material can focus upon the other
tests of musical skills
