Homeschool i ng i s actual l y ol der than regul ar school . In the past, chi l dren l earned at home
because schools did not exist. Even after schools appeared in the city, there were few schools
in the country. As a result, many children still had to study at home. Some famous people
were homeschool ed, i ncl udi ng Abraham Li ncol n and Thomas Edi son.
For much ofthe 1900s, homeschool i ng was rare. However, i n the 1970s, many parents
started homeschooling their children. They chose to do this for several reasons. Some
parents thought the local schools were bad, so they decided to teach their children
themsel ves. Others wanted thei r chi l dren to l earn about rel i gi on, whi ch was not taught
at school.
These days, homeschooling is very popular in Western countries. The United Kingdom has
about 50,000 homeschooled children, and Canada has around 60,000. The United States
has the hi ghest numbet wi th as many as 1.1 mi l l i on homeschool ed chi l dren. Consi deri ng

Many peopl e thi nk we shoul d protect nature.
I agree for several reasons. l t i s i mportant to

Fi rst of al l , we shoul d protect nature because i t i s i mportant to respect al l l i vi ng thi ngs.
We share the worl d wi th rni l l i ons of pl ant and ani mal speci es. We shoul d respect al l ofthese

Second, I bel i eve that nature i s good for our heal th. Spendi ng ti me i n nature i s much heal thi er

Last but not l east, we shoul d protect nature because i t i s
