HST3000 USB Upgrade Instructions 7.60.06

Requirements: PC with Windows Explorer and USB thumb drive 512M or higher.

(Do not perform USB upgrade on HST3000s having firmware below 5.00.40)


1. Using a PC having access to the Internet, launch Windows Explorer.

2. In the address bar type in the following ftp address: ftp://temp:temp@157.234.254.215

3. The ftp site should appear with a display of several manila folders. If you have a listing of
dates, times, and directories you will need to establish the folder view of this site before
proceeding. Contact your internal IT department for assistance or call JDSU TAC.

4. At the ftp site, find the manila folder called 7.60.06 and double click into this folder.

5. Select all 60 files by pressing Ctrl + A. Copy all 52 files by pressing Ctrl + C.

6. Insert the USB drive into your PC.

7. Navigate to My Computer and double click into the USB thumb drive.

8. Paste all 52 files to the root of the USB thumb drive by pressing Ctrl + V.

(Note: the upgrade files will not be recognized by the HST3000 if they are pasted inside of
a folder on the USB thumb drive).

9. Safely remove USB thumb drive from PC.

10. With the HST3000 powered off, insert the USB thumb drive on top of the unit.

11. Power on the HST3000, afterwards press the System navigation button.

12. Press the soft key under the Instrument tab.

13. Press the # 6 on the keypad (# 7 if Remote Operation Option is installed) to enter into the
Software Update selection.

14. Press # 2 on keypad to enter into the USB Flash Software Update selection.

15. Pres OK to begin software update.

16. HST3000 will automatically power itself off when upgrade is complete.

USB Upgrade Verification

1. Power HST3000 on.
2. Press the System navigation button
3. Select the Options/Rev/Copyright menu selection. Verify firmware Revision 7.60.06
