Similarities and differences between the Greeks and the Egyptians

Egypt and Greece were one of the great civilizations of the ancient world. They made
advancements in architecture, politics, and philosophy by taking what they knew about the
world around them and manipulating it. Though these civilizations may seem very different
from one another they have many similarities.
Both of these civilizations made advancements in architecture that was unheard of at the
time. The Egyptians believed in the afterlife and that one must undergo trials that test the
persons character. Because they believed in this they believed that the resting place, the items
that were in it, and the body were things that needed to be prepared properly for the trials of
the afterlife to go smoothly. For their pharaoh who were seen as gods the Egyptians built very
elaborate temples for them to rest in the afterlife. The structures are known as pyramids and
they required brilliant architectural minds to build. The Egyptians built pyramids out of smaller
stones called telitats that made up the out parts of the stricter. Inside and below the pyramid
there were tombs built to honor their pharaohs and gods. They were made to trick the person
going inside because he might have been a temple thief. Much like Egypt the Athenians built
temples to honor their gods, mainly Athena.
