October Newsletter

Eid Mubarak !!
We hope everyone enjoyed their Eid Holiday spent with their loved ones.
This October, students have worked in their classrooms to learn about Hajj.
Each class prepared a display to share with the school. The grade seven classes
focused on Mina, The City of Tents and Udhiyah (blood sacrifice).








Important dates
Progress Reports: Students received their progress reports on October 10
th

2014. Parents please ensure that students fill in their goals and slips are
returned back to the teacher as soon as possible.
Parent-Teacher Night: Interviews will be held for requested students on
October 16
th
2014.


Class work
Language: This month students are focusing on
reading and creating their own short stories. They
are also creating their own Village book covers to
be displayed in class.
Math: Students are focusing on Geometry and 3-D shapes. Students will be
creating their own 3-D robot creations.
Science: Students will be learning about interactions in the
environment. They will learn about food chains, food webs
and endangered species.

Geography: Students will be focusing on movement, location,
the environment and regions. Students will be finishing up
their landmarks and explore how humans affect animal
habitats and lifestyles.

Islamic Studies: Students will be focusing on Wudu and
the significance of prayer. There will be a creative in-class cube activity to help
identify and explore the importance of proper prayer.
