Sr.Storiy Grade 4A
September 8, 2014
Asalamualaikum and Welcome to Grade Four!
I am joyful to announce I will be the teacher for Grade 4A.
My name is Sr Storiy and I am truly grateful to Allah (swt) for us to embark on this exciting
journey together. I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am a Graduate
from University of Toronto Scarborough with High Distinction and have a Bachelors Degree in
a variety of core subjects including Anthropology, Geography and Women/Gender Studies. I also
finished my Bachelors of Education Degree at University of Toronto. I also received The
Miyumi Sasaki Initial Teacher Education Award as an advocate for social justice and equity in
education and in the larger community. I have taught grade seven as the home room teacher at
Islamic Foundation of Toronto. I also taught the core subjects Language, Geography/History and
Islamic Studies focusing on Aqeedah, Fiqh, Akhlaq, Seerah and Islamic History.
This experience has given me a significant understanding of the different needs and learning
styles of students. There is also much emphasis on Islamic values, teachings and understandings
that will be taught and embedded within our everyday subjects. This is because Islam is
connected to our everyday lives and should be highlighted. I also emphasize the importance of
maintaining a positive learning environment by ensuring that the students feel safe and
comfortable. Our classroom should be seen and experienced as a community to help build each
other up with hard work, care and respect. Students must understand they are a part of the
Muslim Ummah and should be positive role models. Also, parents this means you also have a
major role in your childs education. I hope to see each parents positive involvement in their
childs work and behaviour.
Jazakallah hir and I look forward to working together!
