Louis XVI

Louis XVI, the last king of France was born on August 29, 1754 in the Palace of
Versailles, France. He is the son of Louis Dauphin of France and Marie-Josephe of Saxony.
Louis grew up to be a strong healthy boy but very shy. He had a French tutor to teach him, Louis
master in Latin, geography, history, and gain fluency in Italian and English. However, his
parents doesnt really pay much attention to him, instead, they pay more attention to his older
brother, Louis duc de Bourgogne, the first heir to the throne. But sadly, Louis duc de Bourgogne
died at the age of 9 in 1761. Then in December 20, 1765 his father died because of tuberculosis.
Therefore, made Louis XVI become a king at the age of 11. His mother never recovered from the
family tragedies and on March 13, 1767 she also died by tuberculosis too.
Louis was not prepared to be the king. He is extremely shy person and his tutor
provides him with poor interpersonal skills. As the result, Louis XVI became very weak and
indecisive person which is not a good quality for being a king. At the age of 15, Louis XVI
married Marie Antoinette, age of 14 on May, 1770. These two couple doesnt help improve
France at all. Louis XIV is indecisive and doesnt really care about government and politics. He
spend most of his days hunting and doing metal works. Marie on the other hand cause even more
trouble, aside from helping Louis XIV making poor decisions, she also like to spend her money
on gambling and extravagant fashion.
