Marie Antoinette Biography

Marie Antoinette is the last queen of France who were most known about her negative
behavior that creates a big impact on France which were one of the factors in leading to the
French Revolution. She was born on November 2, 1755 in Vienna, Austria and died on October
16, 1793 in Paris, France. Her famous quote Let them eat cake is a symbol of her excessive
monarchy style, even though there is no proof if she really said that quote.
She was married to Louise XIV on May 16, 1770. However, Marie was not ready to be
married and not ready to become a queen. Her tutor said that, she [Marie] seems more
intelligent than has been generally supposed, but then added, She is rather lazy and extremely
frivolous, she is hard to teach. On the contrary, her brother was doing better than her. His study
is based on academics while Marie studies more on religious things. Marie show great
homesickness living in France with Louis because in her letters to her mother at Austria, she
wrote, Madame, my very dear mother, she wrote, I have not received one of your dear letters
without tears coming to my eyes.
Marie Antoinette was also not popular among the people of France. Because she is
Austrian, people viewed her as an outsider and therefore, didnt give her much respect. Marie
was an outgoing, vivacious, bold, and a social butterfly who loves to party, gamble, and wear
extravagant fashion. When France was in economic problems, her extravagant fashion and
gambling, party lifestyle makes people viewed her that she is ignorance and doesnt serve her
responsibilities as a queen of France well.
In the end, after Louis XIV was executed, nine months later Marie Antoinette was
executed by order of Revolutionary Tribunal.
