Who was Juan Ponce de Leon?
Ponce de Leon was a Spanish Explorer and
Conquistador
He was born in Santervas de Campos, Spain in 1460
and died in July 1521 in Havana, Cuba.
He accompanied Columbus on his 2nd voyage to
America
The reason was that he wanted to come to America for
treasure and gold
He landed on the coast of Florida. He was looking for
gold and the Fountain of Youth
Ponce de Leons journey
Ponce de Leons journey started in Puerto Rico and
went from coast to coast in the Dominican Republic to
Haiti and then to Florida, St. Augustine

He was searching for the Fountain of Youth

He died trying to find it

When Ponce de Leon was in America with Christopher Columbus, he overheard the Native
Americans talking about a magic pool.
The Natives believed that the magic pool would make you younger.
