Work scope for 1 month of internship

Context: This is one month of work scope for an applicant for a paid internship with Pipelines, Flow
Assurance and Subsea team at Shell India Markets Pvt Ltd at Bangalore. Shell will provide technical
guidance to the intern, while the software linked mentorship will be provided by STAR CCM+. Shell
will have the copyrights on the work and it will be a sole decision of Shell to publish the work.
Timelines: 7 July to 8 Aug 2014.
Objective: To perform a Vortex Induced Motion (VIM) simulation for a lab scale TLP using STAR
CCM+ and validate it with available experiment [1].
Milestone/Timelines:
1) Background information assimilation: 0.5 week
The experimental work published work will be made available to the intern along with the
guidance on the problem set up.
2) CAD conditioning and Mesh generation: 1 week
CAD will be provided.
3) Problem setup, simulation , results compilation and validation: 2.5 week
All the input boundary conditions, operating conditions, and fluid properties will be
provided.
4) Summary report: 1 week
