INTRODUTION:

I started the Ed Tech program while I was going on my third year of teaching
kindergarten on the Rocky Boy Indian Reservation in northern Montana. I knew I always
wanted to pursue a Masters Degree !ut I wasnt sure which route to take. "hen I
found out a!out the Ed Tech program at Boise #tate I knew it was the perfect fit for me.
My love for technology started when I !ought my i$ad. I was instantly in love with it. I
started finding different apps for the content that I taught. %fter downloading the various
apps I started to !ring my i$ad into my classroom everyday for my students to use. I
would try my !est to pick out apps that would help my struggling students and challenge
the students who needed it. %fter some time my school started to notice the love my
class had for my i$ad. The ne&t year my school purchased a classroom set of i$ads for
teachers to check out. I was a!le to !e a pilot teacher and use them during summer
school !efore I moved out of state. I loved using them unfortunately I only was a!le to
use them for si& weeks !efore I moved out of state. "hile I originally started the Ed
Tech program so that I could learn more a!out i$ads I have since discovered different
types of technology that I never knew e&isted. I really en'oy !eing a!le to learn a!out
technology and love when I get the chance to apply what I learn in the Ed Tech program
in my own classroom every day.

1.1 Instructional Systems Design
Instructional #ystems Design )I#D* is an organi+ed procedure that includes the steps of
analy+ing designing developing implementing and evaluating instruction.
Artifact
Ed Tech 503- iPad Instruction Design Project
The artifact that I have chosen to demonstrate proficiency in Instructional #ystem
Design is the Instructional Design $ro'ect I created in Ed Tech ,-./ Instructional Design.
The pro'ect that I created was for the implementation of i$ads in the kindergarten
classroom. This pro'ect was designed to teach students how to care for use i$ads and
play various apps that they could !egin to use apps in the classroom for differentiated
instructional purposes. This pro'ect was designed using the %.D.D.I.E. model/ analy+e
design development implementation and evaluation. This artifact demonstrated the
a!ility to utili+e academic concepts in my own classroom. I decided to do a pro'ect on
i$ads !ecause when I first started using them in my own classroom I didn0t have a guide
or any training. I thought this would !e a great starting point for implementing i$ads into
the kindergarten classrooms at my school.
1.2 Message Design
Message design involves planning for the manipulation of the physical form of the
message.
Artifact
Ed Tech 541: Video Integration Letter Lesson
The artifact that I have chosen to demonstrate my knowledge of message design is the
video integration activity and lesson that I created for Ed Tech ,12/ Integrating
Technology into the (urriculum. During this assignment I had to find different videos that
related to a certain grade level and content area. My focus was on learning a letter of
the alpha!et for kindergarten students. I created a lesson plan that incorporated
different videos found on the internet to help my students gain a !etter understanding of
the letter and present my message in a more clear way. By incorporating videos it
allowed me to incorporate music movement and images that gave my students a
!etter grasp of our focus letter for the day. I was a!le to teach this lesson in my
classroom during an evaluation with my $rincipal. My students were a!le to really
!enefit from this lesson.
1. Instructional Strategies
Instructional strategies are specifications for selecting and se3uencing events and
activities within a lesson.
Artifacts
Ed Tech 502- We!uest
Ed Tech 542- Project-"ased Learning
The first artifact that I have selected to demonstrate proficiency in instructional
strategies is the Tour 4uide "e!3uest that I created in Ed Tech ,-5/ Internet for
Educators. The we!3uest had students research different countries and then create a
travel !rochure featuring one of the counties to try to convince their peers to go there.
This artifact demonstrated my a!ility to use instructional strategies to select and
se3uence events and activities in a lesson. The we!site had five sections/ an
introduction of the we!3uest task with the description of the assignment a process
which included steps to complete the task evaluation of how the students would !e
graded and a conclusion for the we!3uest. The pro'ect was created using
Dreamweaver a we! development software. I really stepped out of my comfort +one
with this activity. 6sually I like to design lessons and activities for my grade level !ut
this was created for older students.
The second artifact that I have chosen to demonstrate proficiency in instructional
strategies is the (ommunity 7elpers $ro'ect that I created in Ed Tech ,15/ $ro'ect
Based 8earning. This pro'ect was created for kindergarten students to learn more a!out
their community and the people that help make the community run. The pro'ect was
created using a 4oogle site page and the pro'ect utili+ed i$ads. During this pro'ect we
had to create a timeline and calendar with the different activities and events that we
wanted to cover within our pro'ect. This helped us to se3uence the different events and
make sure they were presented in the correct order to help our pro'ect run smoothly. It
also helped to make sure the students were presented with the information that they
needed to study. This pro'ect helped me gain a !etter understanding of the $ro'ect9
Based 8earning Model that re3uires students to connect in pro'ects and re3uires the
students to e&amine investigate and create pro'ects !ased on real9world scenarios.
:$ro'ect Based 8earning engages students cut a!senteeism !oost cooperative
learning skills and improve academic performance; )Intel 5--< p.2*. I can0t wait to until
I can try out this pro'ect with my current kindergarten students. I love when I am a!le to
apply my educational technology knowledge in my everyday teaching field.
1.! "earner #$aracteristics
8earner characteristics are those facets of the learners e&periential !ackground that
impact the effectiveness of a learning process.
Artifact
Ed Tech 503- iPad Instructiona# Design Project
The artifact that I have chosen to demonstrate my knowledge of using learner0s
!ackground knowledge to impact the learning process was the i$ad Instructional Design
pro'ect that I created for Ed Tech ,-./ Instructional Design. This pro'ect re3uired a
needs assessment. I had to survey the learners to understand their characteristics and
make necessary changes that would impact the effectiveness of the learning process.
My pro'ect was an introduction course for i$ads that would teach kindergarten students
the !asics of using an i$ad. This included the care of the i$ad how to get from screen
to screen how to get to the different apps and how to use the apps. In order to gain a
!etter understanding of the technology !ackground my students possessed I had to
create a needs assessment. During this assessment I surveyed my students to see who
had i$ads at home if they had ever used an i$ad !efore or if they knew how to handle
and care for i$ads. This information was used in helping to gage their !ackground
knowledge and make essential changes to my pro'ect so that students would
completely understand how to care for and use i$ads in their classroom.
STANDARD 2 DESIGN: (andidates demonstrate the knowledge skills and
dispositions to develop instructional materials and e&periences using print audiovisual
computer9!ased and integrated technologies.
2.1 %rint Tec$nologies
$rint technologies are ways to produce or deliver materials such as !ooks and static
visual materials primarily through mechanical or photographic printing processes.
Artifact
Ed Tech 502: $ca%enger &unt
The artifact that I selected to demonstrate my knowledge of print technologies is the
$lagiarism #cavenger 7unt that I created in Ed Tech ,-5/ Internet for Educators. The
we!site was created using Dreamweaver a we! development software. The focus of
the we! page was on plagiarism for elementary students. The we! page teaches
elementary students a!out plagiarism the conse3uences of plagiarism and how to
avoid it. The we!site and lesson has a linked worksheet that can !e printed out so that
students can document their answers as they complete the scavenger hunt online. By
having a worksheet to print off for students it makes it easier to follow along. It also
allowed students to write down their answers and notes as they completed their
scavenger hunt online.
2.2 Au&io'isual Tec$nologies
%udiovisual technologies are ways to produce or deliver materials !y using mechanical
devices or electronic machines to present auditory and visual messages.
Artifacts
Ed Tech 501- Video 'on(erencing Tutoria#
Ed Tech 5)*- Word "ui#ding Video
The first artifact that I have chosen that demonstrates proficiency in audiovisual
technologies was an e&tra credit artifact that I created in Ed Tech ,-29 Intro to
Educational Technology. The artifact was created for teachers at my previous school to
use when they are trying to set up and use the district videoconferencing e3uipment.
The tutorial was to instruct the teachers on how to find various video conferences
depending on the needs of their class and their students. I created the tutorial using
screen casting software called (amtasia. This screen casting tool allowed me to
produce and deliver an auditory and visual message that other educators could refer to
at anytime. I used the videoconferencing we!site several times throughout the year and
knew that I would !e moving out of state. I wanted the other teachers at my school to
still utili+e such a great piece of technology. By demonstrating how to use this we!site it
would allow other educators to search for and set up their own virtual field trips !ased
on their classroom needs. These videoconferencing field trips allow students to gain
valua!le !ackground knowledge on topics !uild their voca!ulary and it takes them to
places and events around the 6nited #tates that they would have never !een a!le to go
without the use of technology. During our videoconference virtual field trips my students
were a!le to travel to places they had never !een !efore. They learned !ackground
knowledge that assisted in their reading and helped to !uild their voca!ulary.
The second artifact that I have chosen that demonstrates proficiency in audiovisual
technologies was an educational clip=video that I created in Ed Tech ,></ Intro to
Edutainment. The educational video was to help kindergarten students learn and
practice !uilding short . letter words. This artifact was created using a we!site called
goaminate.com. This artifact helped me to gain a !etter understanding of the different
ways that I can present auditory and visual messages to my students. It helped me to
think outside of the !o& and incorporate my curriculum in a new and fun way that my
students could en'oy.
2. #om(uter)*ase& Tec$nologies
(omputer9!ased technologies are ways to produce or deliver materials using
microprocessor9!ased resources.
Artifacts
Ed Tech 502- Ed Tech &o+e Page
Ed Tech 502- ,ustra#ia Virtua# -ie#d Tri.
The artifact that I have selected that demonstrates my use of computer !ased
technologies to produce and deliver materials is my Ed Tech 7ome $age that I created
in Ed Tech ,-5/ Internet for Educators. Before taking this class I had never used
Dreamweaver and I did not know what (## was. This was one of my first classes that I
took in the Ed Tech program. It was also one of the hardest and most demanding
classes. (reating different we!sites every single week in what seemed at the time to !e
a foreign language to me was e&tremely challenging. 8ooking !ack I really en'oyed the
class and all the e&perience and knowledge I was a!le to gain !y using Dreamweaver. I
loved that I was a!le to create a variety of we!sites that I could use in my very own
classroom. I used the we!site as a reference for each of my Ed Tech we!sites that I
created during my Internet for Educators class. This we!site allowed me to organi+e
present and share my we!sites. I was a!le to share this site with other educators who
teach different grades !ecause the we!sites I created were for different grade levels
and content areas. "hile the class was difficult at first I was a!le to get !etter each
week at !uilding each of the weekly we!site assignments as my knowledge of
Dreamweaver was e&panded.
The second artifact that demonstrates my knowledge of computer !ased technology to
deliver materials is the %ustralia ?irtual @ield Trip that I created for Ed Tech ,-5/ Internet
for Educators. I created this we!page using Dreamweaver a we! development
software. @or my pro'ect I picked a location that I have always wanted to visit %ustralia.
I used different forms of media such as/ videos we! pages pictures 4oogle maps
and songs to teach students a!out %ustralia. ?irtual field trips !uild !ackground
knowledge increase voca!ulary and allow students to learn and visit places around the
world that they would not have !een a!le to !efore. This assignment re3uired me to
!uild several we! pages and connect them together to give students an overall
e&perience of %ustralia.
2.! Integrate& Tec$nologies
Integrated technologies are ways to produce and deliver materials which encompass
several forms or media under the control of a computer.
Artifact
Ed Tech 502- /oi#e Learning ,cti%it0
The first artifact that I have selected to demonstrate the a!ility to deliver integrated
technologies using a computer is the Mo!ile 8earning %ctivity that I produced in Ed Tech
,-5/ Internet for Educators. The mo!ile we!site was created in Dreamweaver. I created
a we!site that kindergarten parents and students could access while taking our annual
train ride field trip. The site features 4oogle maps so parents and students could follow
along and learn a!out the different Montana towns that we would pass through on our
train ride. They could also watch a video a!out %mtrak trains and learn a!out the
different types of train cars they have. This artifact helped me to gain a !etter
understanding on creating mo!ile we!sites.
STANDARD UTI"I+ATION: (andidates demonstrate the knowledge skills and
dispositions to use processes and resources for learning !y applying principles and
theories of media utili+ation diffusion implementation and policy9making.
.1 Me&ia Utili,ation
Media 6tili+ation is the systematic use of resources for learning.
Artifact
Ed Tech 501-1igsa2
The artifact that I have chosen to demonstrate the effective use of media is the Aigsaw
artifact that I created for Ed Tech ,-5/ Internet for Educators. This artifact was a we!site
that I created in Dreamweaver that features the different Bative %merican tri!es around
the state of Montana. This lesson was for students to gain a !etter understanding and
learn a!out the eight different reservations that are in Montana. My we!site utili+ed
different media such as/ videos pictures and we!sites. This pro'ect helped me to learn
how to em!ed videos and link to other sites when creating a we!site. This assignment
was a great way for me to use media to teach students a!out the different Montana
reservations. 7aving worked on a reservation in Montana I knew this was an important
topic for my students to learn a!out. "hile I didnt have very much knowledge prior to
creating this assignment I was a!le to increase my knowledge and my students0
knowledge as well while creating this assignment.
.2 Di--usion o- Inno'ations
Diffusion of innovations is the process of communicating through planned strategies for
the purpose of gaining adoption.
Artifacts
Ed Tech 501- Digita# Di%ide
Ed Tech 53*- "#ogging P#an
The first artifact that I created that communicated a planned strategy for gaining
adoption was the Digital Divide pro'ect that I created for Ed Tech ,-2/ Intro to
Educational Technology. I created the pro'ect using %uthor #tream. In my pro'ect I
discussed some of the pro!lems and trou!les that were faced with my school district at
the current time. I also came up with some solutions in order to facilitate !etter
educational technology throughout our school district. "hen I created this pro'ect my
district had 'ust formed a technology committee. I was on this committee and I shared
my pro'ect and frustrations that the educators of the school had with our technology. "e
were a!le to create a .9, year plan on improving the technology of our school district. I
have since moved from that school district !ut I think a!out their technology 3uite often
and wonder what improvements have !een made. %fter completing my pro'ect and
moving to a new school district it has taught me that technology will never !e perfect.
7owever one person can make a difference and have an impact on helping to improve
the technology at their school district.
The second artifact that I created that demonstrates a planned strategy for gaining
adoption was the !logging plan assignment I created for Ed Tech ,.</ Blogging in the
(lassroom. This assignment was to help us create a plan of how we are going to
continue to !log when our semester had ended. In this course we created a !log to use
in our own classroom. The !log that I created was a classroom !log for my kindergarten
classroom. This was a way for me to share information dates with parents share our
learning activities and practice our !logging as a class. The plan had specific topics
that I would continue to write and !log a!out every month that would carry me through
the first part of the school year. By having a plan in place prior to the semester ending it
would help us to continue to !log with our own classroom !log once the course
semester had ended.
. Im(lementation an& Institutionali,ation
Implementation is using instructional materials or strategies in real )not simulated*
settings. Institutionali+ation is the continuing routine use of the instructional innovation
in the structure and culture of an organi+ation.
Artifact
Ed Tech 542- Project-"ased Learning-'o++unit0 &e#.ers
The artifact that I have chosen to demonstrate my proficiency in implementation of
instructional innovation is the (ommunity 7elpers pro'ect that I created for Ed Tech ,15/
$ro'ect9Based 8earning. Before taking the $ro'ect9Based 8earning class I had no prior
knowledge of $ro'ect9Based 8earning. My eyes were opened up during the class. I
really en'oyed learning more a!out the process that goes into $ro'ect9Based 8earning. It
is such a great way for students to take charge of their learning. It promotes higher level
thinking skills and really gets students e&cited and engaged a!out the topic they are
studying. I en'oyed colla!orating with my peers on the topics that they were creating. It
helped to give me ideas on what other types of lessons and su!'ects that I could create.
"hile the process of planning and creating a meaningful and successful pro'ect was
tough and complicated I could see the !enefits outweighing the amount of time and
work it takes to put into the planning of a pro'ect. I have yet to attempt this lesson in my
very own classroom !ut I was a!le to share this pro'ect with my former kindergarten
team in Montana. #ince the 4oogle site is availa!le on the Internet I was easily a!le to
share this pro'ect with them and they were a!le to successfully carry out the pro'ect in
their classroom. %fter hearing a!out their success I am looking forward to attempting
this pro'ect in my classroom with the other kindergarten teacher in my !uilding this
spring.
.! %olicies an& Regulation
$olicies and regulations are the rules and actions of society )or its surrogates* that
affect the diffusion and use of Instructional Technology.
Artifacts
Ed Tech 502- 3eti!uette
Ed Tech 502- $ca%enger &unt
The first artifact that I have chosen to demonstrate my understanding of policies and
regulations of the different rules and actions that go with Instructional Technology is the
Beti3uette we!site that I created in Dreamweaver for Ed Tech ,-5/ Internet for
Educators. This we!site was created for elementary students to gain a !etter
understanding of what neti3uette is and why it is so important. #tudents need to know
that when they post something to the Internet that it is there to stay. %s a teacher who
integrates technology into the classroom this is an imperative su!'ect that students of
all ages need to !e e&posed to.
The second artifact that I have chosen to demonstrate an understanding of policies and
regulations is the #cavenger 7unt we!site that I created in Dreamweaver in Ed Tech
,-5/ Internet for Educators. The we!site was created for students to go on a scavenger
hunt to learn a!out plagiarism on the Internet. The lesson had students learn a!out
plagiarism how to avoid it and the conse3uences that can happen if you do plagiari+e.
This is an important topic for students of all ages to learn a!out when completing
various school assignments and pro'ects.

"hen I was creating my evaluation pro'ect I had to survey different educators. Based on
their feed!ack I was a!le to monitor and plan my evaluation pro'ect so that I could make
the necessary changes to my evaluation pro'ect. During the course of the class I was
a!le to learn more a!out the evaluation process and why it is important. My evaluation
pro'ect was evaluating the i$ad program that I had created for another Ed Tech course.
This was a great way for me to see the success and growth of my pro'ect !ut it also
gave me a chance to notice the weaknesses in my pro'ect so that I could make
improvements for the future.
!.2 Resource Management
Resource management involves planning monitoring and controlling resource support

Artifacts
Ed Tech 505- E%a#uation Project
The artifact that I selected to display my competence in resource management is the
Evaluation $ro'ect that I created for Ed Tech ,-,/ Evaluation for Educational
Technologists. This pro'ect re3uired the planning of the teacher surveys and re3uired
monitoring of test scores to decide if the program was !eneficial. The purpose of this
evaluation pro'ect was to provide a detailed evaluation of the use of i$ads in the $re9
Cindergarten classroom during the summer school months. The evaluation process for
this pro'ect consisted of collecting different data to determine if the o!'ectives of the
i$ad program were met during the si& week course. I used the data collected at the

pro'ect was created using Dreamweaver a we! development software. I was a!le to
learn how to create a we!page that could !e used in an elementary classroom. "hen
creating this pro'ect I had to organi+e my lesson under different headings. This helped
to keep not only myself on track !ut also helped to keep students on track when
completing the lesson !y following the various headings/ introduction task process
evaluation and conclusion. I first had to create an introduction for the learner this gave
the students a preface to the lesson. Be&t I had to create a task for the students along
with how they were to complete the task. Ince they had completed their learning and
the task an assessment was created to analy+e their knowledge on the su!'ect.
!.! In-ormation Management
Information management involves planning monitoring and controlling the storage

Artifact
Ed Tech 501- Techno#og0 5se P#an
The artifact that I picked to demonstrate my knowledge and understanding of long9
range planning of an organi+ation is the Technology 6se $lan that I created for Ed Tech
,-2/ Intro to Educational Technology. The goal of a technology plan is to create an
organi+ational plan for the use of technology in schools. Technology plans need to !e
fle&i!le with the ever changing world. They need to have a goal in mind which is to
enhance student learning as well as prepare students to live in the 52
st
century. There
is not a one si+e plan that will work for every school. Each school needs their own
technology plan !ased on their schools current needs. The Technology 6se $lan was
an assignment that made me really look at the technology at my school district. It made
me reali+e that if change was going to happen over time that everyone needed to !e
involved. Teachers $rincipals #take 7olders the #uperintendent as well as others all
needed to get involved in order for change to work and !e successful.
#ON#"USION:
%fter looking !ack on my career in the Ed Tech department I reali+e how much I have
grown and the knowledge that I have gained from each and every course that I took
each semester. Each course proved to !e !eneficial to me in my teaching career in its

educational technology it also taught me the importance of using technology in the
classroom. "hile other courses taught me how to create and apply different types of
technology into my classroom to !etter meet the needs of my students and my class. In
the !eginning I started this program with a few goals in mind !ut surpassed those goals
with a much larger knowledge !ase of educational technology than I ever thought
