2013 Design Your Own Pumpkin Help (Revolution about the y-axis)

Start by creating a standard ipt in


inches.You will be creating a pumpkin
by using a Revolve command. Keep the
profile of your pumpkin on
the left side of the y- axis.
Grading Rubric
14 pts = a revolved 3 dimensional
model
2 pts = Coloring the model
2pts = for face details (eyes, nose, mouth)
2 pts = other details (stems, leaves, etc.)
Example: 14 + 2 + 2+ 2 = 20pts
Step 1 Make the Y-axis and the
center point visable. Draw the left
half profile of your pumpkin. Open
up the Origin folder and make the
Y-axis and the center point visable.

Step 2 Select finish sketch
and in the Model tab click on
the Revolve command.





Step 3 Change the color of the model
from as material to the color of your
choice.



Step 4 Make the XY plane visable and then create a work plane by
clicking on the workplane tool and then touch the edge of the XY plane.
Offset the work plane so that it is
above the pumpkin. Create a new
sketch plane and draw the eyes,
nose, and mouth.

Step 5 Extrude cut toward the pumpkin a distance that will pierce the
pumkin. Use trial
and error to find
the right distance.

Step 6 Create the green stem on the top of the pumpkin. Make the
XY plane visable, click on the
Workplane icon and then click on
the edge of the XY plane, offset
the plane to the top of the
pumpkin. Create a new sketch
plane and draw a circle that
represents the top of the stem
cyclinder.

Step 7 Extrude join the cylinder to a distance that intersects with the
pumpkin. Use trial and error to find the right distance. Change the color
from as material to the stem color.








Step 8 Add a title block to
the bottom of your pumpkin.
Add your name period and
Pumpkin to the front and
emboss the text.
