The American Jewish Committee –Konrad Adenauer Foundation

Exchange Program 2010

The exchange program between the American Jewish Committee and the
Konrad Adenauer Foundation of Germany is about to enter its 30th year. Having
commenced in 1980, annually the two organizations attempt to exchange leaders
for the purpose of familiarizing them with the culture, political atmosphere and
general lifestyle of the partner country.
The Adenauer Foundation (www.kas.de) is a political foundation connected to
the Christian Democratic Party and is supported by government money. It has
offices in every major German city and in 80 countries around the world.
Founded in 1956, it was named after the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic,
Konrad Adenauer. The Foundation offers political education, conducts scientific
fact-finding research for political projects, grants scholarships to gifted
individuals, researches the history of Christian Democracy, and supports and
encourages European unification, international understanding, and development-
policy cooperation.
This year’s group will be in Germany from May 16th to May 21st. The program that
the group will be participating in will be determined by the Adenauer Foundation.

The AJC participants must be in Germany on May 16th and can leave on the
morning of May 22nd. They are responsible for their own travel arrangements
and air fare to and from Germany. All internal travel, hotels and most meals are
at the expense of the Adenauer Foundation. The delegation will be accompanied
by Eugene DuBow, AJC’s Senior Advisor on German Matters and the Founding
Director of the AJC Berlin Office. In addition, a professional staff member of the
Adenauer Foundation and a translator will also be along as members of the
group.
