Point Cook (P-9) College Year 9 Health/Science

Topic: World Nutrition Research Project

Date: Lesson 10
Learning
Intention

Success Criteria
To discover differences in nutrition around the world.
I can describe the typical diet of a different culture
I can list different influences on their diet (culture, media, availability etc)
I can present my research creatively using Prezi

AusVELS Health
Students reflect on the range of influences on personal food intake: peers, advertising, mass
media, mood, convenience, habit, cultural beliefs and values, and access to food products and
services.
They explore topical issues related to eating, and identify personal and community factors that
influence their own food selection.
Intercultural Understanding
Students will research different cultures, investigating their diet and nutrition, and making
comparisons to their own food choices.
General Capabilities ICT
Poll Everywhere is used as a different and engaging method for brainstorming.
Prezi is being used for final presentation.
Assessment Formative Assessment
Observing students responses in KWL activity
Targeted questioning to ensure all students understand what is required of them for the
assignment
Roaming the room and observing students contributions to group work
Summative Assessment
Nutrition around the world Prezi presentation
Differentiation
Students will be working in groups to complete a research assignment.
So not to single any one student out I will remind the whole class that while working as part
of a team it is important to work together and help each other out.
While I am roaming the room and providing assistance, I will ensure I focus on students
who need extra assistance.
