THE FIRST COMMANDMENT
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all
your soul, and with all your mind.

God calls all Christians to love Him with absolute submission of oneself above
everything, and all creatures for Him and because of Him. Gods initiates to
communicate Himself to His children. God demand to accept Him and genuinely
worship Him as a sign of acknowledging His authority.
God forbids honoring gods other than Him. Thus, divinizing what is not God and
false pagan worship is a form of idolatry which is a violation against His command.
Another sin against our Christian faith is improvidence by consulting horoscopes,
astrology, palm reading, or by consolidating hidden powers that falsely supposed to
unveil the future because we show that we do not fully trust ourselves into the hands
of Gods Providence. Attempt to put oneself of having supernatural powers above Gods
is a form of sorcery to the virtue of our religion. It is a form of atheism if man is falsely
considered to be an end to himself, and he sole maker, with supreme control, of his
own history and detests or denies the existence of God. If we test God by word or
deed, we harbour doubts about his love and power. These doubts may be voluntary (full
disregard in belief) or involuntary (with hesitation in believing) and can both lead to
spiritual blindness. Omitting or denying the truth on our faith such as incredulity, heresy,
apostasy, and schism are offenses to God. We cease to hope for salvation from God
wherein we tend to presume upon our own capacities or just upon Gods power and
mercy. Acting without conformity with charity like indifference, ingratitude,
lukewarmness, acedia, and hatred of God are various ways of sinning against God.
Every day we are taught to acknowledge Gods existence and kindness to us. As
Christians, God calls us to act in His image and likeness. We must embrace faith, hope
and charity. The Church tries to instill in us the right path in following Gods footsteps so
that we would not be led astray. It follows that it is necessary to accept His words and
fully profess our faith in Him. We are required to cultivate and protect our religion with
discretion and observance. As Gods faithful servants, we must fear offending Him by
rejecting everything that will oppose His will. Moreover, we should live and hope in
prayer that God will give us the capacity to love Him in return and to obey His
Commandments. As His communion of followers, we must respond in unity in the
adoration of God with sincere love to divine charity. We must be driven by our faith to do
good to our brothers and sisters.
