Uganda is a Sovereign State


and a Republic. Uganda is a
member in the United
Nations representing the
African Union. Uganda is
made up of three different
arms: The Executive, the
Legislature, and the
Judiciary.

president of Uganda
since 1986. Museveni
has brought stability
and economic growth to
Uganda throughout his
time as president.

The Constitution is
the supreme law of
the land in Uganda.
Uganda has had four
different
constitutions. The
first constitution
came about after
Uganda gained their
independence from
Britain in 1962. The
most current
constitution was
adopted on October
8th 1995. It is rather
new. The constitution
lays out the basic
structure of the
government in
Uganda. The people
and the government
are to follow it. The
constitution gives
power to the branches

Different Branches of
Government
The
Executive Branch holds the President of Uganda. The president
also acts as head of state and Commander-in-Chief. The Executive
Branch also consists of the Vice President, the Prime Minister, and the
Cabinet. The Parliament of Uganda is the Legislative Branch. This
Parliament contains 303 members. The Judiciary Branch consists of the
following courts; Supreme Court, court of appeal, high court, chief
magistrates courts, grade l magistrates courts, grade ll magistrates
courts, the local council courts, and family and children courts.
Ugandas Judiciarys mission statement for 2011-2016 is an
independent, competent, trusted and accountable Judiciary that

administers justice to all.
