Uganda
Government Basics:
The Ugandan Government is broken up into
branches similar to that of the united state.
The executive branch and the country as a whole is
led by the President, who is elected in an open
election every 5 years. The president overseas is
the Head of State, Head of Government, and the
Commander in chief of the nations Armed Forces
(Uganda National, n.d.). The executive branch
also includes the vice president, the Prime Minister
who is chosen by the President, and the Presidents
Cabinet which is made up of various ministries that
are essential to running the country (Uganda
National, n.d.).

The legislative branch is made up of the countrys


parliament. The members of parliament are
elected by the people to serve. A interesting fact is
that one woman is elected from each district
(Legislative, n.d.). Parliament is responsible for
passing laws, carrying out the functions of the
government, scrutinize governmental policies,
debate matters of interest, and to examine
carefully people appointed by the president
(Legislative, n.d.).
The judiciary branch is led by the Chief Justice.
There are various court systems finalized with the
Supreme Court and the branch promises to
determine justice not based on economic status,
quickly, and give adequate compensation (Uganda
National, n.d.).
