Objective: I will continue to explore Westward Expansion. The students gather to the carpet with their Social Studies textbook. The teacher asks for volunteers to read the textbook. The students start reading The United States in 1783 in the textbook. As the student reads, the teacher points out the vocabulary words and defines them. After couple of sentences, the teacher asks the students how to get the vocabularys definition and why is it written in bold? (look around the text, its important thats why its in bold, the definition is written in a box beside the text).
