The Main Window of ABViewer

The ribbon makes it easier to find commands and provides you with a quick access to all
the instruments of the program without additional toolbars.

The panel Properties displays the

properties of the selected element and
allows to edit them.

All the commands are grouped according to their functions and are situated in the
corresponding tabs. By default there are four tabs: File, Viewer, Editor and Advanced. There is
a possibility of switching to the classical view of menus and toolbars.

The panel Explorer is used to

search for the files in the
directories or to open them. It is
possible to read files from ZIP
archives.

The panel Favorites is used to

form a list of favorite files. This
allows to print these files without
opening them preliminarily.

Additional modes: Snap, Grid, Ortho and Polar Tracking allow to switch snap on, to
display a rectangular grid of points, to draw strictly vertical or horizontal lines and to turn polar
tracking lines on. These modes are used while creating and editing elements and fasten the
process of creating entities relative to some other elements of the drawing.

The File tab of the Ribbon contains commands connected with the files of drawings like creating a new one or
opening an existing drawing. This tab also has tools allowing to print and convert a file or a group of files without
opening them in the program window.
Menu items, which don't have icons, are a group of commands. When they are selected a list of
subcommands contained in this group appears on the right of the item.
The activation of the commands, with an icon next to them leads to opening a corresponding dialog box,
where additional settings are made. Such commands are Open, Save as, Properties and Options.
Such commands as New, Save, Reload File don't open dialog boxes and don't contain subcommands, they
fulfill operations of creating, saving and reloading the file in the window of the program

Navigation

Rotation, 3D Orbit

The mouse, the keyboard and the scroll bars are used.
With the help of the keyboard and the scroll bars the navigation is fulfilled only vertically
or horizontally.
The pointing device Mouse allows to scroll the drawing in any direction in the screen
plane. To pan the image use the right mouse button or scroll.

The keyboard, the instruments of the panel Position of the Viewer tab are used.
3D Orbit. The command gives access to the list of the standard orthogonal and
isometric views, allows to set the display modes for the 3D models of the drawings
and calls the 3D Orbit axis.

Clicking in the icon of the instrument 3D Orbit activates the axis

3D Orbit that allows to turn the image in the 3D coordinate system.
Clicking on the arrow next to the icon calls the list which is depicted
on the image below.

Scaling
The mouse wheel is mostly used, the tools located in the section Position of the
tab Viewer are also made use of.
Zoom in/Zoom out.
A single zoom in/out of the drawing relative to the
center of the view area. By default zooming is performed with the preset step, but
it is possible to switch to the mode of fine zoom. To select the zoom mode click on
the black arrow on the right of the command and choose the mode.
Rect Zooming. Allows to scale the selected part of the drawing to fit the view
area..
Fit drawing to window. Scales the drawing according to the size of the view
area. Double click on the mouse wheel fulfills the same function.
Zoom undo. Returns the image to the previous zoom size if available.

Element selection

Scaling

Rotate Counterclockwise. Rotates the drawing counterclockwise

by 90 degrees. The combination Ctrl+left arrow fulfilsl the same
function.
Rotate Clockwise. Rotates the drawing clockwise by 90
degrees. The combination Ctrl+right arrow fulfills the same
function.
Rotate by angle. Allows to rotate the image by a certain angle
relative to the axes X, Y, Z. The parameters of the rotation are
entered into the dialog box Rotate by Angle, which opens
automatically after the command is called.

Measuring the Elements of the Drawing

General Information on the measure tools

The Panel Measure

Measuring elements is fulfilled with the help of a group of instruments situated in the
Section Measure of the tab Viewer. The results of the performed measurements
aredisplayed in the panel Measure that appears automatically after activating one of the

Parameters of the instrument

Distance.

Distance measures distance between two selected points on the

drawing.
Polyline length allows measuring a curvilinear outline as well as
the angle formed by the first three apexes of the specified outline.

Parameters of the instrument

Polyline length

Area allows measuring the area and the perimeter of the outline
marked with black while measuring.

Parameters of the instrument

Area.

When the Distance tool is activated the panel has two supplementary fields: Set size
as and Scale factor.
A new value for the measured distance is entered into the field Set size as, on the basis of
this value the scale factor is automatically calculated as a ratio of the entered value to the
real value of the measured distance. This calculated scale is displayed in the field Scale
factor and will be used in the following measurements of the current drawing.

The functions for the Distance tool:

An example of using the function Set size as:

Tracking
It is often needed to place new objects at a certain angle to an earlier created object
and at a definite distance from it. One can use tracking and dynamic input to achieve such a
result.
For example, there is a line in an earlier created drawing. It is required to add a new
line that is parallel to the existing one and is at the distance of 10 mm from it. By using the
corresponding snap modes, that can be switched on under the Editor tab, and the dynamic
input form we will create the required line:

Dimension

Dynamic Input
The dynamic input is a possibility to enter some parameters of an object into a
special form that appears when creating or editing an entity. This is an example of the
dynamic input form when creating a line:

Editing with the Help of Markers

for the first point

for the second point

Select an entity by a single left click and place the cursor on the selection marker a small
blue square. After it changes its color and becomes yellow, left click on it, and having
acquired it move the marker. In this way an entity vertex is moved that leads to changing its
size. To move an entity without changing its size it is necessary to perform the second left
click not on the marker but on the entity image.

To switch between the dynamic input fields use the following combinations:
Tab - switches to the next field and locks the entrered value. If there were no changes in the
field it switches to the next field without locking the value.
Shift+Tab -acts like the button Tab but switches to the field above.
Space - releases a lock from the fields the values of which were locked or is used for a
forced lock of the current values.
Enter - confirms creating an entity point and finishes the work of the dynamic input.
