LESSON PLAN SEQUENCE & PACING

1. Norms: Good Things and
attendance. (3 minutes)
2. Introduce the lesson title, Irony
and The Oatmeal. Allow some time
for confusion. (2 minutes)
3. Using Blendspace, play video on
Verbal Irony. Pull up the Oatmeal
comic on Verbal Irony - read aloud and
expound upon it. Repeat for dramatic
and situational irony (20 minutes)
6. Read aloud and discuss examples of
The Most Dangerous Game. (7
minutes)

7. Get students onto Google Classroom and open

the Ironic-Comic assignment - link to comic
maker bitstrips provided. Explain and expound as
necessary. (7
minutes)
8. Model using Bitstrips. (3 minutes)
9. Allow work time until end of period - monitor,
redirect, and troubleshoot as necessary. (20-ish
minutes)
