Limitation of perception
What is the roll of culture and language in the perceptual process? Given the partially subjective
nature of perception, how can different knowers ever agree on what is perceived? Do people with
different cultural or linguistic backgrounds live, in some sense, in different worlds?
The base of our perception is what we know and most of the things that we know is based in our
culture and language and our culture and language is based on what we hear or read. Culture and
language always affects the way we perceive things because for each person we were raised in
different ways since we born, could be with different traditions, language, etc, so that is the base
of our perception. Every person has his own point of view. For example, if a Chinese see a mouse
he will feel hungry but if I see the same mouse I will feel disgusting because Chinese people use to
eat those kinds of animals but I dont.
Knowers always have different points of view for one thing, because each knower have different
knowledge and different ways of thinking and if they want to get a conclusion about a experiment
or anything, they will use all of their knowledge from math, biology, physics, chemistry, etc, and
they will relate all to discuss about it, because every single person have different perception and If
they collect all their ideas, or hypothesis they can compare and finally get a conclusion of one
thing.
There are so many types of traditions for different kinds of cultures in the whole world. Probably
when you were a kid you thought that when a person talk about China you think or imagine that
its another planet but when you grow up you realize that all people live in the same planet with
the difference that some of them have different traditions and different ways of living.
In conclusion, every person has different points of view that are affected by their knowledge,
culture, traditions, language, etc. So that makes that people have different ways to perceive
things.
