Students are given 8 discussion


questions, based on the module
and main reference book.
For each discussion question,
students have to relate their
personal opinions or views by
responding to the topic.
Students also need to respond to
four comments given by other
students in the forum.
5 marks will be awarded to each
student if he or she posts a
response to the topic and to the
comments given by other students.
(5 marks x 8 discussion questions
= 40 marks)

Students are to write an essay on
any of the following topics:
- Prefixes and suffixes, synonyms
and antonyms, prepositions,
noun phrase, verb phrase, past
tense, adverbs, voiced and
voiceless sounds, vowels and
consonants, connotative and
denotative meaning, metaphors,
styles and registers, taboo and
euphemism.
The essay should be 6-8 pages in
length (not including the cover
page and reference page)
Arial 12 font size and 1.5 spacing.
The essay should contain two
parts based on the following:
- Cover page
- Content page

1.0 Part 1:
- Introduction
- Description and explanation
- Provide suitable examples
2.0 Part 2:
- Answer the following question
If you are going to teach this
topic in class, how are you going
to do it?
- Explain the steps to be taken
- Provide examples
3.0 Overall Conclusion
4.0 References (must cite at
least 8 references from several
sources, such as books,
journals, and the internet)

Examination

Students are tested on their


knowledge of the contents of the
module and main reference book.
The format of the exam:
- Essay-type questions
- Five questions will be given.
Students choose and answer
only two questions.
