The lack of participation and

involvement in (PSR) Psychosocial

Rehabilitation Group. I was interested
with the consumers outlook on their
environmental, community involvement,
participation, and interventions.

The adults that attend the (PSR) group

have neither a behavior, learning, or

mental diagnoses. They are 18 years of
age or older. They are not required to
attend the group session.

I met with the group leader and we discussed the groups surveys and their
additional feedback about services received. He identified issues that will need
to be handle before we could implement some of clients desire. One, the
company transportation is being serviced . Two, gathering information about
community agencies that would allow the group to come volunteer and their
protocol for volunteering. Third, dates, times, and funding had to be identified
to be able to have new activities implemented. The group leader and myself has
to have a meeting with the supervisor and the agency director. Afterwards, we
will be able to give the group some feedback.

Subject: A proposal for funding to organize social events and off-site activities for the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Group.

Proposal Purpose

This proposal offers a solution to increase Psychosocial Rehabilitation Group (PRS) members social exposure by providing consistent
opportunities for more social involvement, social exposure, and social skills development of the individuals Person Center Plan
(PCP). The issue of not providing routine social exposure, social involvement, and social activities is that the group is not provided the
opportunity to practice, develop, and adopt through social transmission of information and behaviors. Group members continually
become frustrated and discouraged because it is difficult to practice current knowledge without community involvement, on-hands
activities, and social exposure which are crucial for effective learning and implementation.

I suggest that we provide two social opportunities monthly so that the group members will be receive social exposure, social
involvement, and a setting to participate social skill building and will therefore be able integrate social interventions learned while in
the (PSR) group setting.
Research on the Purpose: Research provided by Benchi, J. (2013) and colleagues shows that service activities promotes civic
engagement. In addition, participation of service activities contributes to the development of ones autonomy, belongingness, and
competence. According to the self-determination theory, having the three basic needs met will foster motivation and self-regulation.

Community Service Retrieved on October 24, 2014 from http://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/EJ1016820.pdf

Research on the Purpose: Research conducted by Acar, H. (2010) and colleagues suggests that a direct pedagogical approach which
is knowledge in classroom also out of the class room setting is vital to observe the consumers knowledge of interventions learned. An
Outside setting provides an opportunity for the consumers to practice interventions in a safe atmosphere with staff support. In
addition, the research highlights that various setting serve as a subtle teacher. For instance, sports setting teach cooperation,
competition, and sportsmanship skills because of the nature of the environment.

Problem
The problem of not providing routine social opportunities is that group members may attend psychosocial sessions and retain knowledge of
interventions however they may be limited in the overall understanding of the application of interventions due to limited access to social outlets.
This means that if group members have limited resources like transportation, financial, and support difficulties it affects the chances of group
members being exposed to social opportunities outside of psychosocial group sessions.
However, this need can be addressed during psychosocial sessions. This need arises at various times. For example, the need was presented
through a survey and group discussions.
Because of the length of time it takes to provide social opportunities, it may be beneficial to start with realistic social settings and opportunities to
ensure a stable routine. Almost everything done in a classroom connects to cognitive thought process, emotions, and behaviors, therefore these
core objectives will be developed, enhanced, and supported through social opportunities with staff(s) support.
Research on problem:
Solution to the Problem
I propose that the psychosocial group receives funding to provide monthly social outlets that are focused on social education, social skill building,
and social interactions.
Overall Activity Goals.
The goal of the proposal is to receive funding for the following up-coming social activities
Research on Solution: According to McReynolds (2002), Rehabilitation professionals that foster community integration and independence by
implementing several designs will provide the following; increase social connections, serve as a normalizing factor, reduce stigmatization, and
provide societal roles.
McReynolds, C. (2002) Psychiatric Rehabilitation: The Need for a Specialized Approach. Retrieved on October 24, 2014 from
http://www.psychosocial.com/IJPR_7/approach.html, International Journal of Psychosocial Rehabilitation. 7, 61-69.
DATE/AMOUNT/SOCIAL OPPORTUNITY
[10-24-2014] [$ 30.00] [SCC Educational Awareness]
[11-5-2014] [$50.00] [Social Exposure]
[11-25-14] [thanksgiving dinner w/family] [Social Skill Opportunity]
Costs
The cost to provide monthly social opportunities will increase. However, the benefits of implementing this approach in the PSR setting will
support group members (PCP), increase positive group bonds, and provide on-hands in the environment.
Several Mental Health Agencies are in operation and being developed therefore the (PSR) group at Community Helps Needs (CHN) wants to be
effective and productive in our various approaches to supporting consumers (PCP) and providing integration of knowledge through application in
the environment.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I think that providing funding for social opportunities will be beneficial for the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Group (PSR) and
Community Helps Needs. Our society is continuously evolving and the traditional methods/approaches of group setting with minimal on-hands
are decreasing. In addition, I think that social outlets will increase (PSR) members positive social skills, social involvement, and social exposure.
I think that this will help (CHN) stay competitive and effective a Mental Health provider. In addition, I think that it will strengthen the bond
between the consumers and the agency.
Thank you for considering providing funding for the (PSR) Consumers and Staff!
