FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

University student assaulted

by local Cleveland policeman
CLEVELAND, Tenn. (Nov 16, 2014) Cleveland university student, Jonathan Sullivan, is
facing a court case in which he is being charged with evading arrest and disorderly conduct.
Sullivan, however, denies these charges and claims that he was unlawfully arrested and assaulted
by a Cleveland police officer. On Thursday, Nov. 20, Sullivan will be presenting his case at the
Bradley County Judicial Complex.
According to Sullivan, a group of young adults were gathered at a friends apartment on the
evening of Nov. 7. Sullivan states that the policeman arrived at the premises and tried to enter
without a warrant.
After he verbally requesting that the officer not enter the house without a warrant, the policeman
forced entry, threatening Sullivan with a taser gun. The officer aggressively put Sullivan in
handcuffs and began assaulting and taunting him without cause. Sullivan was then brought into
custody and charged.
Upon his release, he was sent to the emergency room for care of his injuries. Sullivan suffered
extensive bruising, a severely sprained ankle, along with wrist and back damage.
On Nov. 12, Sullivan pleaded not guilty for his recent charges at a court assignment. He was
then scheduled for another court date in which he plans to press charges.

Ive never been arrested before, said Sullivan. I couldnt believe what was happening to me. I
was in total shock and excruciating pain. My rights as a human being and an American were
stripped from me. I was forced to suffer at the hands of negligent law enforcement.
