The One Liner

A short film made on a social cause-to curb spitting, dreaming of a clean India.

The Background
In order to spread awareness about the ill-effects of spitting publically, a short
movie with an end message is made. Spitting on social places after consuming
tobacco and making the places dirty is a very common practice seen in India. One
way where consuming tobacco is harmful to health, spitting is destroying the
beauty of a clean surrounding by polluting it.

The Premise
To provoke social awakening amongst people regarding spitting at public places
and making them untidy, disturbing shots of a layman spitting in public places
carefree is shown. Not many anti-spitting campaigns have been made; even if
they have lesser impact is seen on society. By taking close up shots on how India
is becoming untidy and unhygienic due to spitting on streets, a true clear picture
on how shameless people have become is shown. To support this cause, the
recent Clean India campaign launched by our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi
is taken for background support. One of the key messages in the movie is that
clean India cannot be achieved just by sweeping using a broomstick, but also by
combating unhealthy social habits like spitting.

The Nemesis
The ill-causes of spitting include unhygienic surroundings and a reason to give
birth to diseases. Not only this, the government has to spend a lot of money in
order to clean up the spit marks. So, a social message at the end is given to the
audience to stop themselves and others from spitting publically.

The Hero and the Twist

There are no dialogues in the movie. The communication has been done through
visuals and clearly laid semiotics. The person who watches could make out that
the video is about anti-spitting. However, at the end, captions show. And they are
quite eye-opening and shocking. So they add as twist as well as turn out to be the
heroic material. They read as: There is a law against spitting in public places, but
it is hardly implemented. Spitting causes TB, swine flu, pneumonia, that kills over
2,00,00 Indians every year. Indian Railway spends about Rs.1,50,00,000 every year
to clean spit marks. Stop spitting on street. Keep the country clean. The last two
lines conveys the closing message.
