Evaluation Artifact #1
ETT 501 - Instructional Design Plan Redux

This artifact is an evaluation of the Sizzles instructional design plan created for ETT 510.
Dr. Underwood asked us to evaluate the ID plan we had constructed, and then find ways to
improve it. I would incorporate appropriate evaluation techniques by involving specific groups
of people, such as customer service experts, an instructional design company, educators, and
Sizzles corporate staff. The formative and summative assessment data from the original Sizzles
plan would be analyzed, and I recommended improvements in three categories: motivation,
learning theory, and technology.
To address the motivation factor, I would employ the ARCS model to redesign the
training. To improve upon learning theory, I recommended adding experiential learning
opportunities for store employees in order to make them more connected to the training. Finally,
I recommended changes to technology in order to save money and be equally effective.
This artifact taught me the importance of evaluating instruction. Even though the original
Sizzles plan had followed the ADDIE model, there were still improvements that could be made.
Instruction, evaluation, and improvement should be a never-ending cycle. Learners in this
scenario would be affected by receiving an improved training experience, which would hopefully
lead to a motivating and more cost-effective solution.
