Dear Parents,

Hello! My name is Deniece White and I am your childs student teacher in Mrs. Perkins
classroom. I will be working in your childs class through the middle of December. I am
currently studying Elementary Education at Drexel University online, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
and will be earning my masters degree this December.
As a student teacher, I will be working closely with Mrs. Perkins to plan and prepare lessons to
teach to the class. I will also be assisting her during class. Prior to working in Mrs. Perkins
classroom, I have worked in various other schools both assisting and teaching lessons. This is
the 9th and final classroom that I will be working in during my graduate work at the university,
and I am thrilled to be spending my student teaching time at Odyssey!
My background includes substitute teaching in the Coweta and Fayette county school system
for several years. In addition, Im a retired major with the United States Army Reserves. My
teaching philosophy speaks to my students being actively involved in their learning. Through
incorporating lessons rich with multimedia use, it is my belief that students will want to be
actively involved with their learning, enjoying the interactive experience, and releasing emotions
that leave them open to experience the intent of the instructions provided.
In closing, teaching and working with children is a wonderful experience for me. I am so proud
to finally have the opportunity to work towards being in a classroom full-time! My hope is to
become the kind of teacher that can instill in my students the desire to want to learn; to be an
active participant in their learning; and to know that learning is for everyone. Additionally, I am
looking forward to getting to know your child and to be working with him or her through the rest
of the fall semester.

Sincerely,

Deniece White
