Response 3B
If I was to imagine telling someone about my writing project on gender equality I would
start with the most important parts. I think I would present my research first, and anything that
could be supported with facts and statistics. I would start by using my point that women are still
paid less than men. I would then research more about the subject, and use more resources
showing and stating statistics as to how that is true. I would then add maybe a graph or pie chart
comparing how women were paid in the past versus now. I think if I showed comparison, it
would further prove my point that as a society we arent progressing toward equal pay for
women. It would also further prove my point that even though people have claimed for many
years that genders are equally paid, they arent and never have been. Next, I would present my
idea that women still lack rights to their bodies in many states. Women arent allowed to have a
rights to choose if they can have an abortion or not. Although I may not be in favor of abortion,
I do not think it is a politicians right to choose that for a women, nor do many womens rights
activists. I would then end with many social justice issues. I would explain and show examples
of what many activist are talking about in the media. One of the points I would show would be
the women and men protesting the social issue behind rape, and blaming women. I would also
show the gender stereotyping of double standards and how this effects women in their
everyday lives. Lastly I would add and explain that women do not have to cater to gender roles.
I would explain the typical gender role of stay at home moms versus business moms. The best
thing I could do show the different stereotypes would be to take different opinions form the

internet, either from news articles or blogs and compare the opposite views. I would then
explain and show why my opinion as to why gender roles are wrong, is the right opinion. I do
not think I would leave out anything in my writing project. I may leave out the idea of women
not being in control of their bodies and rights to their bodies. The subject of things such as
abortion are touchy and can receive a very heated response. That being said, either bringing up
the topic of abortion can be very well for creating rhetorical exchanges, or very negative for my
personal project.
