Dear Uncle,

Since you have left after the Cold War, a lot of things have changed and happened. We have a
new president named Vladimir Putin, he has done many things for Russia, and some were good. He has
ruled under a system called managed democracy. He represented stability, and during his reign the
economy has grown 7 percent every year, poverty has been halved. Also the average monthly salary of
Russians has more than tripled. He was the head of the FSB and the successor to the KGB. Putin was
elected president to prosecute a brutal war that killed tens of thousands. During the huge forest fire in
2010 her personally dumped tons of water on the flames from a water bomb. He made life easier for the
people that didnt have a lot of money. He had central control over Russia. And when the bombing
happened it killed many people, and he helped the ones that didnt have a lot. Putin is a fit president he
doesnt drink or smoke, because he knows that will affect the people around him and put his job in
jeopardy. The people here like him because he does many activities like racing cars, horse-back riding,
and many people admire him for that. Our country wouldnt be where it is today, we had so many down
falls that he brought us back up, people in this country were getting upset while Yeltsin was in power
but now since we have Putin in power many, people see a better side, and are living right, Putin gave us
another chance at life, and is helping us see a better life in Russia. I believe Russia has made a come up,
since he was elected, but Uncle I hope you agree with me and understand all the things I told.
