CAT (Common Admission Test) 2014 Exam Pattern

There is no fixed pattern for the exam. The exam pattern usually changes every year. So
do check the official notification of CAT 2014 when it gets released for the proper exam
pattern.
As per CAT 2013, there will be 60 questions with 2 sections. The questions will be
objective type. The Time Duration for the exam: 2 hours and 20 minutes. There will be
70 minutes given for each section. You can see the countdown timer for time. After 70
minutes the exam will move to next section and you cannot go back to past section.
The exam will be online and will consist of 2 sections with 30 questions each.
Question Paper is divided in two sections and have some important topics covered to test
the knowledge of student:

CAT Common Admission Test 2014 Syllabus:


There is no fixed syllabus for CAT Exam. CAT syllabus is based on the past paper
patterns which usually have questions from these sections.

Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation:


Number Systems, Trigonometry, Geometry, Permutation and Combination, Algebra,
Mensuration, Averages, Time and Work problems, Percentages, Probability, Percentage,
Profit And Loss Questions, Linear Equations etc. Geometry, Number System, Time and
Distance, Chain Rule, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Allegations and Mixtures, Simple and
Compound Interest Problems, Pipes and Cistern, Algebra, Geometrical Sections such as
Circles, Triangles, Mensuration, Questions on Bar, Pie and Line Charts, and questions
related to Data Sufficiency etc.
Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning:
Reading Comprehension, Paragraph Arrangement, Inference Deduction, Vocabulary, Fill in
the blanks and Verbal Reasoning, Syllogism, Analogies, Antonyms and Synonyms, Sentence
Correction, Idioms, Clocks, Binary Logic, Calendars, Blood Relations, Logical Sequence,
Seating Arrangement, Premise, Conclusion, Assumption, Linear and Matrix Arrangement,
Blood Relations, Puzzles, Arguments, Statements and assumptions, Coding and
Decoding etc.
