Sing
B
I began singing at age six when I was
asked to sing in the wedding of a family
friend. Since then, I have participated
in multiple competitions, such as the 4H
Share the Fun contest, the Roanoke Star
singing competition, and the Growing the
Future Talent Show sponsored by Shelor
Motor Mile. In high school, I sang the National Anthem for multiple athletic events,
mainly varisty basketball and volleyball
games, and I also sing freqently at my
home church, Huffville United Methodist. I have also sang in weddings and at
fundraising events such as Relay for Life.
In the fall of 2013, I joined the Emory &
Henry College Concert Choir as a soprano.

I started playing the flute in 2006 when I

joined the Check Elementary school band.
In 2008, I joined the Floyd County High
School Marching Band, where I played
flute for three years. In 2011, I auditioned
for drum major and served as co-drum
major from 2011 until I graduated in 2013.
I also played flute for the FCHS Concert
Band each winter from 2008-2013 and
in the spring of 2013. In the fall of 2013,
I joined the Pep Band, and in the spring
of 2014 I joined the Wind Ensemble at
Emory & Henry College.

Love
B

Music is an incredibly important part of

my life. For Christmas in December of
2013, I recieved a Yamaha keyboard. I
decided that I was going to teach myself
how to play the piano because it is a skill I
wish I had picked up when I was younger.
Not only do I love listening to piano music,
but I believe learning this instrument will
help me tremendously with other musical
aspects of my life, particularly singing.
For me, music is more than just notes on
a page; music is a window to your soul, a
part of you that you cannot help but share
with everyone else. Although I am not a
music major, I plan to keep music as involved in my life as possible.
