A Biography of Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson was an international superstar, and one of the most famous people in the
world. He was called the King of Pop.
Michael Jackson's life started when he was born on August 29, 1958 in a town called Gary,
Indiana in the USA. He had 6 older brothers and sisters and two younger.
When Michael was 5 he started his music career in a band with four of his brothers. The band
was called the Jackson 5. At the beginning they played music in their hometown, but soon they
started playing in other towns and in competitions. Michael got to meet many very famous
musicians and learn from them. Everyone loved the Jackson 5 because they were young and
energetic and fun.
In 1968 the Jackson 5 moved to California so they could make cd's. They worked for one of the
most famous producers in Hollywood. Michael's band recorded 20 cd's, and Michael recorded
4 cd's by himself.
Michael loved music, but he wanted to do other things too. His first acting job was in a movie
called The Wiz in 1977. He played a Scarecrow. Soon, he started releasing his most important
cd's. The first was called Off the Wall. It was a big success all around the world. Then in 1982
he made Thriller. Thriller has sold more cd's than any other cd ever made by anyone. It sold
more than 50 million cd's.
Michael was also famous for using videos with his music. He worked with the best producers
and used the latest technology to make his music videos. The video for the song Thriller had
fantastic dancing and make-up, and is one of the most famous music videos ever. In 1983
Michael first did his dance, called the Moonwalk. He was now a real superstar.
Michael won many awards for his music, and he continued to record. He also went on
international tours to many different countries, and he founded the Heal the World
Foundation to help children all over the world. In nineteen eighty-five, Michael Jackson
helped write the song We Are the World. He recorded it with many other famous people. The
song raised millions of dollars for starving people in Africa.
Michael got married in 1994, but he got divorced in 1996 and got married again. He had two
children: Prince Michael Joseph Jackson Junior, born on Feruary 13, 1997, and Paris Michael
Katherine Jackson, born on April 3, 1998. Michael also bought a big home in California with
rides, a zoo, and a movie theater.
In March 2009, Michael said he was going to have another world tour. There were going to be
50 concerts across the world, with 750,000 tickets. The tickets were sold-out in minutes! But
on June 25, 2009, Michael died of a heart attack.
