1. System Description
All DD Platform engines are equipped with integrated engine brakes.
Three levels of engine braking power can be invoked if desired by the vehicle manufacturer (high, medium and
low). See the GHG14 DDEC13 Electronic Controls AI Manual for wiring details.
The graph below provides the Maximum Engine Brake Power over the engine operating range for the DD13,
DD15, and DD16 engines.

The minimum operating speed for the engine brake is 900 RPM. A check engine will be illuminated when the
maximum operating speed exceeds 2500 RPM
