Manchester band The Smiths have
split
On Wednesday it emerged that rock band The Smiths have split. The
bands have been together for 4 years but have parted company this
morning. It follows the much public bust up of Morrissey and
guitarist Johnny Marr. It came to end after Johnny Marr confirmed it
via a press conference last night that left everyone in shock of the
decision. A statement from Morrissey is yet to be released, but hes
to make a statement this afternoon in Manchester. Hints of a rift in
the camp were seen earlier in the week when it appeared that
Morrissey was absent from a band meeting on Monday.
Marr once said, Were united by our sense of humour. Yet were all
very different; we should hate each other. To keep four egos on the
boil and yet balance them isnt easy. It seems that this statement
has now come true and the band have gone their separate ways.
In 1982 the band formed and captured the music scene at the time.
It seemed they would go on to huge success in the next few years.
After the cruel fate that claimed The Clash last year, we didnt want
another British band to break. The band manager Joe Moss said, Its
a shame for all involved but hopefully we can get successful careers
after The Smiths for all of them, thats the main thing
