Who is at risk?

Modifiable risks
Smoking- Smoking damages your lungs and
High blood pressure- Higher blood pressure
increases risks like damaged arteries, people
with high blood pressure are at more risk.
Diet- People with bad diets that are greasy or
have more fat are at a higher risk. A healthier
diet can lower blood pressure, cholesterol,
etc.
Personal Health- Things like weight, amount
of exercise, and diet. If you have bad
personal health you have an increased risk
but you can modify it with things like
exercise.
Alcohol Similar to smoking it increases your
chances of heart disease. You can modify it
by not drinking alchohol.

Non-Modifiable Risks
Diabetes- Both genders gain an increased risk
when they have diabetes.
Age-People who are older have higher
cholesterol and have an increased risk
because of having an old heart.
Men-Overall men have a higher cholesterol
than women making them more at risk than
women.
Genetics- People can have an increased risk
factor because of their genes. For example if
someone has a family history of heart
disease.
