Complete the following table summarizing your progress towards achieving the 8 learning outcomes.
Explain in what way the activity helped you achieve the learning outcome.
Learning Outcome
Activities
In the school band, I learnt that I could play live
Increased awareness of your own strengths and
in front of other people and nothing bad would
areas for growth
happen. I used to get too nervous to do it before.
With the trip to Ambato, we were mixed with
students from other schools and I had to sleep at
the house of a person that I hadnt met before.
Undertaken new challenges
Socializing with entirely different people was not
something I was used to and it was a great
experience.
For the trip to Ambato, I had to be prepared
beforehand, with stuff we had to take and
routines we had to perform.
Planned and initiated activities

Worked collaboratively with others

Furthermore, I had to plan activities to carry out

with the children when we went to the
orphanage, given that it was up to the students
to figure out what to do, not the teachers.
The Senior Boys Football club is all about
working collaboratively, as a team. Nobody can
win a match on their own, without the rest of
their team playing. The same was seen at the Liga
Football Club out of school.
In order to plan the activities for the orphanage,
we had to work together to come up with
something the kids would get something out of,
not just be entertained for a day.

Shown perseverance and commitment in your

activities

Engaged with issues of global importance

Considered the ethical implications of your

actions

Developed new skills

Showing up to football practice without missing a

single one 3 times a week, counting the school
extracurricular and the one outside of it, certainly
instilled in me a sense of commitment.
Furthermore, practicing with the band helped me
develop my perseverance.
Many important themes were touched upon
throughout my activities. I dealt with orphanage,
and the implications that it has, as well as the
need for taking care of the environment.
Reforestation of native endangered species is not
only important to ecosystem, but also in
maintaining the identity of the country by
preserving our local species.
Finally, at the InterCAS trip, I discussed the topic
of autism, and how it is a poorly known problem
present all over the country. Actually interacting
with autistic children was an incredibly
experience too.
I had to stop and think about the actual
difference we were making to the orphans lives
just by visiting them once or twice, and
interacting with them. Was the activity more
geared towards teaching us, middle class people
about the conditions in which others live in and
procure to make a change, than really helping
these orphans who are in a terrible state?
Playing more efficiently with a band was
something I learned with the school band, as well
as cleaning the roots of endemic species in order
for them to grow properly and not be stripped of
their nutrients in the soil by an invasive species.
