A RENDEZVOUS WITH PEACE

I have often dreamt of peace,
And wondered how its presence would feel,
For in this world of tragic dramas,
Fairytales are hardly real.

Peace, is like the gentle summer breeze,

Which we frequently ignore, to crib about the heat,
But for once, let its flow carry away all your qualms,
Let it show you its miracles and marvelous treats.

It is like a pristine, clear blue stream,

Gifting life to everything it surrounds,
Let it moisten your barren deserts,
And turn them into fertile grounds.

Every day, as dumb witnesses,

We watch our comrades fall prey to violence,
Hatred has overpowered the strength of brotherhood,
All compassion and humanity have been silenced.

But for this grim and distasteful fate,

We have no one but ourselves to blame,
In the lure of elusive power, weve allowed
Our inner demons to wreak havoc, untamed.

Peace cannot arrive like an angel, in white,

To end all misery, in answer to our prayers,
WE have to plant the seeds of kindness,
And nurture the sapling with tenderness and care.

Peace can be discovered in the simplest of activities, if

To anger and prejudice, we refuse to conform,
Stay calm and united even in the midst of mayhem, and
Pacify the tempest and settle the storm.

Wars, battles, fights and unrest,

People losing families and more importantly, their faith,
Why should we allow hope to be abandoned so easily?
Why, for happiness, should we have to wait?

Coat our fierce eruptions with love,

Learn to forgive and forget,
Never disregard someones call for help, and
Protect peace from all threats.

Take the initiative and work towards peace,

The goodwill of others, you must accrue,
Never stop dreaming of a better world,
And strive to make those dreams come true.
