English 120 Final Reflection Paper
There are many questions of the viability of an online course, but this course succeeds in
giving students a true education. We as students were challenged to take our creativity to new
heights with the ability to make our writing more professional and align with the kind of writing
that used today. We took time to step outside of the classroom and make our school have
practical applications. By building websites, creating videos, and performing effective research,
this online English was far more valuable than any other English I took in the past.
The research paper was the first assignment in the class and it was a traditional MLA format.
The paper was not about doing research but more of a test to gauge where we as students stood.
As students, we learned how to perform research and review papers from other peers. Even
though this is on online course we still connected through the discussion board. There was also a
multimodial presentation that was attached to the project that gave spark to creativity that did not
go off the rails.

The second project we performed in the class was a very professional assignment. The task was
to make an argument using 2 multimodial pieces. The requirements on the assignment were
fairly loose, but it gave students the chance to create greatness. I made a website blog that looked
more professional than a decent number of blogs that are popular on the net. On top of that my
writing skills were tested, because I needed to make scripts to present smaller ideas that would

add up to the whole of the project. I spent a lot of time on this project but I could point at that
assignment and show that I am proficient in English.

The 3rd project of the semester was more constrained than the rest. It was similar to how in the
professional world your boss wants something creative but specific. For my project I took
inspiration from the most popular proposal website on the internet today, Kickstarter. I made a
spoof of the web page. In a professional setting proposals need to be done all the time, but this
class gave me the opportunity to actually go through with a well-constructed professional
proposal.
If I had to sum this class up into a few words I would said it was a practical creative
experiment. I personally have always wanted to do video production, and I got my chance
through this class. I was able to take English to the next level outside of the classroom and make
a message that could be heard by the world. Education is about independence after being taught
material and this course had the right balance of teaching and work to be able to capture that.
