Alisa Bunch:
Your application for admission into the Merchandising Management Professional Program
has been reviewed. I am pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to the 2014
Cohort. Congratulations! Below are important instructions.
Register for Fall 2014 courses: A request will be sent to the Registrar's Office to change
your major code. Once the request has been processed, you can register for courses
restricted to students within the professional program. For the Fall 2014 term, you will need
to register for DHE 255 and DHE 270 (if you have not already taken them). Furthermore, if
you plan to complete an internship while at OSU, you will also need to register for DHE 300
(see information about the internship program at the end of this letter). If you encounter any
problems with registration, please schedule an appointment with an SDHE academic
advisor; to make an appointment, call the College of Business Advising Office at 541-7374766.
Attend Merchandising Management 2014 Cohort meeting: A mandatory group advising
session for your cohort will be held at the beginning of the Fall 2014 term; in August, you will
receive an email that provides the exact date, time, and location of the session. Attendance
is mandatory. During the session, you will be provided with important information about
your plan of study.
Follow the 2014 cohort plan: You are a member of the 2014 Merchandising Management
cohort. If you follow the plan specific to your cohort, the Merchandising Management
professional program will take three years to complete. You must enroll in the DHE
Merchandising Management major courses when they are offered for your specific cohort.
Many of these courses are offered only once a year; it is your responsibility to follow the
courses in their prescribed sequence. A missed or failed course may delay your
graduation by one year or more. If you do not complete a major course for any reason
(study abroad, a failing grade, temporary withdrawal from schools, etc.) it is your
responsibility to schedule a meeting with Dr. Brigitte Cluver, the Merchandising
Management program coordinator before missing the course.
In addition to the courses required for your major, it is your responsibility to identify and fulfill
the baccalaureate core and other university requirements. Advisors in the SDHE Advising
Office can help you if you have questions or concerns. To schedule an advising
appointment, call the advising office at 541-737-4766.
Apply to the SDHE Internship Program: You are now eligible to apply to the SDHE
Internship Program which allows SDHE students to earn credit for a professional internship
experience. Before credit can be earned for an internship, you are required to pass DHE
300 (2 credits), a professional development course which will help you create a professional
identity and secure a professional internship. DHE 300 is offered in the fall term only.
Once an internship is secured, you can enroll in DHE 310 to earn credit for your internship.
Both DHE 300 and DHE 310 fall as elective/emphasis credits that work towards your
