PLC Assignment
Professional Learning Community
The Principal came in to speak with my mentor teacher about some teacher
evaluation requirements and math standards. Items of Business are as follows
1. CSIP Consolidated School improvement Plan
Each teacher has to fill out the forms containing information like
Objectives-What will students learn
Assessment-How will the information be assessed
Intervention-What will happen if the students do not learn the information?
2. Observer Tab (Professional Development Growth web based program)
Self Evaluation Tool, that offers 10 Objectives that teachers have to meet.
Teachers rate themselves in a self-evaluation. Teachers set goals for personal
growth. Then they decided which objectives or standards they are going to
focus on improving.
3. Scheduling and looking at disadvantages or advantages of a 5 period day. Is
Giving kids the chance to do intervention during the day worth it or does it
need to be after or before school.
4. How can we help kids be successful in all levels of math? The principal wants
to start tracking the kids earlier, so when they have goals that they can know
how to get them. The kids who want to make it to calculus need to prepare
sooner like in middle school. He wants to offer different tracks for different
levels of kids in their math. Similar to the way college students figure their
math schedules.
