Lesson Objective

9.4 The student will read, comprehend, and analyze


a variety of literary texts including
narratives, narrative nonfiction, poetry,
and drama.

Purpose of Lesson

To learn how to form an opinion on a literary text


and be able to analyze it in full detail as to why the
opinion was formed. It will also teach them to public
speak in a new form they may not be used to.

Activity

Assessment

The student will be required to think back on


the different literature that was read in class.
They will then have to think of which was
their favorite and why.
The teacher will then go over the process of
how to use the webcam on the device being
used. (Computer or Tablet)
Next they will use write down a brief script
that is between 2-3 minutes long.
They will then be required to use the script
to read it while making a video with the
webcam device.

The teacher will assess the students based on if the


video is the appropriate length and how comfortable
they are with the camera. The teacher will also look
at the material and make sure the script has a fully
formed opinion and shows that the student learned
from the literature.

The teachers role in this lesson plan is to teach the students how to speak publicly,
but with using technology. This allows for students to get a feel for what its like to speak in
a way that may not be familiar to them. Learning to speak using videos, audio, and other
forms of media is very important with todays growing online classes and streaming
classes. This shows multiple standards in ISTE. It promotes creativity, knowledge, selfevaluation/opinions, and the use of technology in new ways, as well as helps them engage
in digital leadership. It also works with TISP because it makes the teacher assess how well
they know this form of technology and teach it to others. It also shows teachers the
abilities the students have with technology that is vastly used in the education system.
With this project the teachers role is to be a mediator and educator on technology. They
are to assist the students with the technology as well as teach them to use it comfortably.
