Stage | Timing Activity Procedure 5 1 | mins. Warmer T. asks Ss. if they remember talking about job advertisements, T. prompts the Ss. by writing on the board “scanning for information”. T. asks the Ss. how this phrase applies to applying for jobs (scanning through job advertisements to see which one interests you and if you have the qualifications to apply). 10-15 2 | mins. Vocabulary practice T. introduces the new vocabulary and goes over the meaning of each word with the class. This is to ensure that the Ss. know what each word means and how they apply to job applications. Once the T. has gone through the vocabulary, the T. hands out the matching vocabulary worksheet. The T. will erase what she has written on the whiteboard and the Ss. will match the words to their definitions. This gives the Ss. more practice and they get to keep the worksheet which is helpful in case they need to look back and use those words. 10-15 3 | mins. Scanning for Information T. hands out six job advertisements to each S. They must quickly read through each advertisement. While they are reading, the T. hands out the “Partner Discussion” worksheet. T. tells the Ss. that the must discuss the questions with the person next to them and answer the questions by scanning for the answers in the job advertisements. T. goes through the answers with the class once everybody has completed the worksheet. 15-20 4 | mins, Researching, Jobs T. asks the Ss. to pick one job from the advertisements that they would like to apply for. Once the Ss. have decided on which one they would want to apply for, the T. hands out the “Researching Jobs” chart. T. explains to the Ss. that it is important to know what you are applying for, this chart helps you to know ‘exactly what you will be doing and what you need to have in order to get this job. T. tells the Ss. to read through the job advertisement that they picked and filln the chart with the information about that job. T. gives an example to make sure that the Ss. know what they are supposed to be doing. 15-20 5__| mins. Job Application. ‘After the Ss. have filled out the “Researching Jobs” chart, the T. hands out a job application form.
