A Note from the Teacher:

I was so happy to meet all the parents this month during parent-teacher interviews. We had a great month filled with so
many different events and activities! The Gr. 3s took part in Swim to Survive and learned the basics of swimming. I must
say that I was impressed with how well the students did in the water! Our school had a remarkable and emotional Rememberance Day Assembly where our class along with the primary students performed a song.
We just finished reading The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate. We were able to produce some strong visualizations and make some great predictions from the text. We have also been learning about juicy words to help us make
stronger descriptions. We will be moving into Letter Writing and begin working on our Pen Pal letters with Grade 3s from
another school.. For Math, we have spent this month learning about graphs, what it means to collect data and conduct a
survey. We will be moving into Measurement, and in specific Time and Money. We are also undertaking a special project as
part of the Parent Council food drive to support The Yellow Brick House. Every single person in our class has agreed that
we will work towards obtaining 1 food item for every student in our school. That is 601 students at the moment. This
means that we will be organizing announcements over the PA as well as in-class announcements, making posters and signs to
encourage students to bring in food items, as well as be responsible for grouping and counting the food items. As always,
thank you for your ongoing support in your childs academics.
Sincerely,

Mr. Chin
