LESSON CONTENT &
PROGRESSIONS

Instant Activity
Protocols/Induction
Have you all ever been to a
school dance? Im sure you
will go to one eventually in
high school with homecoming
and prom. When we were in
middle school it was the
coolest thing ever when a song
came on that everyone got up
and knew all the moves too. If
you feel like you do not have
any dance skill, thats okay
because with line dances the
moves are made up for you
and everyone somewhat looks
the line!

TEACHING
CUES

MANAGERIAL STRATEGIES

Students will line up on 2

separate lines (front and back)
facing teacher. They will be
staggered so everyone has a
clear view of the teacher.
There will be a teacher spaced
evenly around the perimeter
of the students.

SAFETY

Students must stand at

an arms length away
from peers on both
sides.
Check the floor for any
wet spots/ objects
Be sure to make the
students return to their
ready position spots
after going through the
moves. They may end
up in someone elses
space after doing the
dance and not realizing
it.

ASSESSMENT at least one

formal or informal
assessment measure must
be listed for each
activity/task.

To begin the lesson, I will go

over my protocols for ready
position. Students will be told
to find a line to stand on. This
will be called line one. Once
the students are standing on
their line one the back line
will be told to switch with the
person directly in front of them
and the person in front of them
will walk to the backline and
switch spots. This will be called
spot two. When going over
the dances I will randomly
shout out, find spot one or
find spot two where the
students will then rotate lines
and find their original spot one
or two. What this does is
makes sure that each student
gets a chance to be in the front
line.
Also, before beginning the
steps to a dance I will use the
starting counts 5,6,7,8 which
will lead into the first move of
the dance.
Activity/Task
Instant Activity- After the
students are in ready position
on their lines, play the song
cupid shuffle. Almost all or
most students will know this
dance already, so it will be a
great opening to the lesson.
Stand at the front and center
of the class and watch the
different styles of how the
students move from one
another. Walk around to view
their moves from all angels.

Now that we have warmed up

to incorporate more dance
steps. Everyone find your line
and face forward as we
perform this dance for you.

Students will be broken up into

We will ask the students to
assemble back in their original
lines they were in at the start
of class facing forward so they
can perform the naenae as
one big group.
Closure
How many of you will do the
naenae at a dance? Do you
think you would teach your
friends this at home or on the
weekend? The awesome thing
about dance is you can take
out what you do not like and
add your own moves. Dance is
a very unique form of physical
activity because you do not
realize you are actually
working out.
