Squeeze across 2nd 5th metacarpals (tenderness indicates synovitis of metacarpophalangeal joints),
Turn hands over (inspect for muscle wasting, assess normal pronation/supination of forearm)
Power grip (make a tight fist)
Precision grip (put fingers on thumb)
Full extension (arms out straight)
Abduction and external rotation of the shoulders (hands behind your head)
