    All the worlds a stage, and all the men and women merely players.
    Welcome to the eighth and final Merely Shakespeare
    production of 2014, as we return to Shakespearean comedy,
    the genre that opened our season with The Comedy of Errors
    back in February.
    Our audiences have seen it all: the gripping intensity of
    Henry IV, the cruel tragedy of Macbeth, the chaotic hilarity
    of Twelfth Night. Despite their differences, each production
    has been branded with the core, distinctive Merely style: we
    bring an energy and vitality to our performances in a way
    that puts the text very clearly at the centre. And, of course,
    the decision to act without complex set, props or costume,
    that forces us to commit even further to the text, and find
    inventive ways to involve you, our audience, in all of our
    shows.
    This production of The Taming of the Shrew, codirected by
    Artistic Director Scott Ellis and Creative Associate Simon
    Grujich, will be the final Merely Shakespeare production in
    the now familiar format. But dont worry, therell be plenty
    more to come from The Merely Players in 2015, with some
    exciting collaborative projects already being organised.
