Photodesign
Description:

Take a photo and then edit it in Photoshop to display

your skills.

Date:
10/18/14

Course/Instructor:
Comm. 130 Visual Media
Cory Kerr

Objectives:

Learn more about Photoshop and be able to use

nondestructive editing.

Process:

For this project we are told to take a picture and then

design a document in Photoshop I took the picture late
at night so it would have the stars in it and then made it
a little brighter so the colors would be more contrasted.
My evaluator suggested adding Homer to the picture so
it would have more content. To do this I found the image
and cut and pasted it on this image re-sized it and made
it see through. I spent some time re arranging Homer
and then words so they wiould flow better. I also added
space etween the last line of the quote from the author.

Web Page
Description:

Create a web Page with Html and style it with CSS

Date:

Course/Instructor:
Comm. 130 Visual Media

Objectives:
Process:

As I didnt want to download Netbeans I decided to

create this using notepad++. The Html was very simple
to code as there were no real requirements other
than having an image and words. The css was also
very simple but was a good refreshes to learn. The
background image I used was edited in Photoshop
so it would be a little transparent. The banner across
the top is of a picture and resides in the header div.
I gave each of the subjects or text boxes a div and
background so you would be able to see them better.

Montage
Description:

Create a Montage of two pictures and put a

meaningful quote on it

Date:
10/25/14

Course/Instructor:
Comm. 130 Visual Media
Cory Kerr

Objectives:

Learn how to use masks and constructive editing in

Adobes Photoshop

Process:

I decided for this project to get a picture of a

lighthouse that was a little darker and then apply a
texture to the sky. I made the galaxy picture into a
mask and used the brush tool to allow more of the
lighthouse blue to come through. For the color of the
text I used the original light from the texture.

Logo
Description:

This project was to create three logos for a hypothetical

company.

Date:
11/1/14

Course/Instructor:
Comm. 130 Visual Media
Cory Kerr

Objectives:

Get experience using Adobe Illustrator.

Process

The program that was used for this was Adobe

Illustrator. The main tool I used was the box tool text and
pathfinder. I was able to get ideas off the internet about
different information security companies and I thought
that a Lock, Stop sign and Shield would be representative
of being safe.

SECURITY

Brochure
Description:

The project was to create a brochure for anything. I

chose to do one as an informational information security
brochure.

Date:
12/6/14

Course/Instructor:
Comm. 130 Visual Media
Cory Kerr

Objectives:

Learn how to design a Brochure in InDesign and be able

to print it and fold it.

Process:

Most of this project was made in InDesign however all

the pictures were edited in Photoshop and cropped so
that they would fit better. In InDesign I made a Paragraph
style for the Heading and the Body Copy. The heading
used OCR A STD as a font and the Body copy was
Rockwell. I was able to wrap the text around the objects
by using the text wrap tool. To get the background I
placed the image and then added a transparent white
box over it so you would be able to read the text and
not have too much disturbance. I went through a lot of
different themes for this project but decide that a finger
print would go over quite nicely because many people
dont think about what they leave on the web. I went
back and fixed the inside so you could see the texture a
little better.

Risk
In todays world then number of computers is
on the rise, nearly 12% more each year. Right
now there are around of 2.5 billion.

Person@l
Mitig@tion

The Number one and by far

the best virus protecting
you will ever get will
be yourself. 90 % of all
attacks can be stopped
if you make sure you
only go to sites that
you know are safe. When
you see a linked on Facebook
or an add on the side of your
browsers do not click on them.
This is how attackers will lure
you into giving you a session
token or your credentials.
Even if you are safe on the
web and making sure youre
not going to any bad sites you
also need to have an anti-virus
and malware scan program. All
This is because you never can
be too safe.

Like a footprint in the snow, computers also

leave tracks and little bits of information
about where youve been and what youve
been doing. These bits of information can
be collected and used to create a digital
fingerprint that Identifys you and your
habbits.
While some of this information
gathering is perfectly legal it can be
used to generate malicious attacks
aginst you while on the internet. The
question to ask is, How do I fix this?

Business Card
Description:

The project was to create a bussines card for a company

using Illustrator and InDesig

Date:

Course/Instructor
Comm. 130 Visual Media
Cory Kerr

Objectives:

Learn how to design a Business card for a company

using Illustrator and InDesign.

Process:

The program I used to create everything was illustrator,

then I put them on InDesign to export them. To create
the logo I mainly used the shape tool. I got the shield
shape by mapping a triangle over a shield I found offline.
Then for the other shapes I looked at some examples
online and mimicked them. The back of the Card is just
supposed to be a design. I made it by making yellow
bards and then creating a random pattern and then giving
them a stroke and dividing them I was able to change the
places where there was overlap to black.

Letterhead
Description:

Create a Letter head for a company using Illustrator

and InDesign.

Date:

Course/Instructor
Comm. 130 Visual Media
Cory Kerr

Objectives:

Learn how to eloquently design a piece for a

company to use that wont distract from any content
that they need to convey.

Process:

For the letter Head I put the logo I created in the

upper left hand corner and then made a bar leading
over to the other side with a pattern of Exclamation
marks in it (Fibonacci sequence). For the watermark
on the letterhead I grabbed the design on the back
of the card and made it about 15% transparent

Event Ad
Description:

Create an Ad for an Event of your choosing only using

Microsoft word

Date:
10/11/14

Course/Instructor:
Comm. 130 Visual Media
Cory Kerr

Objectives:

Learn how to design using software that was not meant

for design.

Process:

This Ad was created purely in Microsoft Word. I was

able to scan an image to use for this project, which is
the present in the center. I then made tow rectangles
and made them the same color of the ribbons of the
present. I added a text box with a fill and stroke to make
a tag for the present that had some information on it.
The hardest part of design this project was to bet the
red border around the paper. It was difficult to make
sure it could print off evenly around all the edges.

Gifts of Grace

Flier
Description:

This was a project created in InDesign. The text and

pictures were supplied.

Date:
10/4/14

Course/Instructor:
Comm. 130 Visual Media
Cory Kerr

Objectives:

Learn more about InDesign and more about design

principles.

Process:

Everything was done in InDesign. I decided to make the

title image on the top because I felt that it would get
the audiences attention. I created the round circles to
separate different the different points that I wanted to
make.
