(6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Environmental precautions: Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Do not flush into surface water or
sanitary sewer systom.
Clean-up methods: ‘Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal
binder, sawdust). Sweep up and shovel into suitable containers for disposal. Prevent
product from entering drains, Clean spill area thoroughly. Local authorties should be
advised if significant spillages cannot be containes.

Handling: Remove all sources of ignition. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Avoid
breathing mists, dusts, or vapors. Wash hands thoroughly after handling.
Storage: Keep containers tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place. Keep product and
empty container away from heat and sources of ignition.

Carcinogenic effects: Vitamin K (1, 10-phenanthroline) has been reviewed by IARC. There is inadequate
evidence in humans for the carcinogenicity of vitamin K, There is inadequate
evidence in experimental animals for the carcinogenicity of vitamin K. Therefore, the
‘working group concluded that Vitamin K is not classifiable as to its carcinogenicity to
humans (Group 3).
Stoddard solvent has boon reviewed by IARC. There is inadequate evidence for the
carcinogenicity of petroleum solvents in humans. No data were available on the
carcinogenicity of special boiling range solvents or white spirits in experimental,
animals. Therefore, the working group concluded that Petroleum solvents (stoddard
