October 2014
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The holidays are a time for giving. The word of the month at PS273Q is generosity, which means the
quality of being kind and generous. Being generous is a character trait we would like to foster in our
children all year long. Therefore, we are going to initiate the monthly Jean-erosity campaign by
singing Its a Hard Knock Life, which is a song from the movie Annie. This song is about the
struggles of being an orphan, especially this time of year.
The Jean-erosity campaign will be a monthly event in which the students will be allowed to wear
jeans and make donations to a charity selected by the Student Council. This month, we will collect $1
donations during the Festival of Lights and make the donation to Little Flower, Children and Family
Services of New York. Your kind donations will help care and nurture over 1,000 children in Foster
Care.
Please join us in our Jean-erosity campaign on Friday, December 19 th at 1:45pm. Come in your jeans
and bring $1. Thank you and have a wonderful holiday and a prosperous New Year!

Sincerely,
The Second Grade Teachers
